8 years is not short term
Buy stock in aspl, Msft, V, and Dis. If you prefer an etf, then tdiv, qual, or Mtum.
These are all relatively stable stocks and etfs who should be steady growers and dividends over 10 years.
Or a 529is a good idea for schooling, select general stock options. Utah has a good one. That’s what I have for my boys with monthly contributions.
