Mom; Hey, you’re gonna get $4k from that car wreck
Boy; Sweet!
Mom; What ya gonna do with that money?
Boy; I dunno
Mom; How bout we take the whole family to Hawaii for vacation?
Boy: Sweet!

This isn’t stealing under this scenario. I have a hard time imagining a parent actually stealing money from their kid. Not saying it doesn’t happen, just doubt it’s common.
