Cal ended the season 5-7 when his players body surfed him. Oklahoma, don’t recall where they ended the 2009 season, both UT (TX) teams were bad.
Bronco did have a nice run but the writing was on the wall. Comparing Bronco to KS is fruitless, Bronco could recruit more competitively with the likes if Utah and mid-tier P-5 schools, KS cannot. TV contracts created a HUGE discrepancy, despite what CB tells us, we are getting trounced money-wise. KS schedules are so ridiculously front-loaded too, without the same quality depth. We are getting run into the ground physically by the end of September, making losses to Toledo and USF more explainable. We do jot have the depth to play 4 straight P5s, TOUGH opponents, and come out unscathed physically. Our depth is really not good. Our 1s are pretty good and can compete, bit our depth chart is such that if one or two go down, the machine falters.
I love both coaches for different reasons. I also am/was frustrated with both for different reasons. These years are like no others to which we may compare. Bronco did a terrific job. Under a whole different set of circumstances, I think KS is doing a terrific job.
