Take off that criteria. If they go undefeated, they have to be ranked a certain

Just take the top 8 teams. Forget all the qualifiers, conferences, etc.

Pretty much every P5 champ the last 10 years would get an auto bid. The idea is to eliminate fluke 9 win conf. champs
