Oklahoma had 7 close games (and lost one of them) Oregon had 4 close games (and
lost two, yes their two losses were close). And Alabama only had two close games (and yes, those were their two losses, but they were CLOSE). Alabama’s offense wouldn’t be the issue in the playoffs even with Tua out. They would just need to tweak the defense a little.

But it’s easy to see that Oklahoma will have more of a tough fight to pull out a win with having MANY MORE close games that the others, even with playing more ranked teams (which is what the playoffs is, of course). Of the ranked teams they played, Oregon is the only one with a clear (non-close game) against a ranked opponent.

I know we’ll have to agree to disagree, but I am pretty confident in my choice too. Which is why I don’t think it is clear most years and we should just move to 8 teams in the playoffs. The five power 5 champions then the top three ranked after that.
