A key to improving CC is to ask those who are not members
A key to expanding the connections, community, and resultantly, donations is to find out what it takes to get donations *from people who could donate but do not.* It is not to ask current CC members. The current CC approach worked for them. Sure they likely have some good ideas on how to improve and should heard. But true, dramatic change comes from listening to the market or potential "customers".

Think "Innovator's Dilemma." Those who do not figure out how to change and challenge existing ways of thinking or doing business, will eventually be disrupted. This doesn't exactly sound like stodgy, bureaucratic, tenured, inside-baseball academia. But it can and will happen everywhere.

If the CC doesn't want to listen to the market (Cougarboard is probably a great place to find people passionate about BYU sports, with some who could be contributing), then there isn't much that can be done. But, then we need to stop with the posts about how all us potential lower-level donors need to pony up more for the Cougar Club. I am all for supporting BYU sports in every way possible. But if Cougar Club won't listen to their market (us), then don't make us feel guilty for not doing what they want.

It's a two-way street. I will never have the means to be a multi-million $ donor. If that is all they care about and spend their resources on, then I am fine with that and won't worry about my small donation or the potential many, many other small donations adding up. This is sad because I think it should be about building a connected, community out of all of us BYU sports boosters, then we will donate more. Not the other way around.
