Our defense was good and opportunistic in its own right

Ty also forced a lot that year because he had a bunch of receivers he really trusted. They all graduated, and he forced way less the next year, the result only being 12 picks, though the last one was forced and hurt a lot.

Hawaii owned us in 1989 and 1990 - we just didn’t show up ready to play either year.
