Power5 tried to make a break a few years ago but it was a political mess
They get the anti rust stuff that caused the token inclusion in the BCS and the NY6. There were legal problems with just breaking and having their own rules.
This way they freeze the G5 into their own level and then separate.
BYU is considered P5 level by the P5 and that matters more than anything and it keeps us on that level
