Portland general area. Truly, everyone where I live takes off shoes (at least
during the 8 months of the year when it’s wet).
Summer is different. But this time of the year it seems to just go without saying. It’s the norm.
I have family in the Midwest too and during the snowy season it’s the same. It’s just the expectation that you take off shoes (so as to not track in snow, obviously).
