Yes, that’s different. Where I live, wet shoes are so normal that everyone I
know has just sort of developed a habit of taking them off all year round.
So, yes, it’s not necessary (as much) in the summer, but in my experience here, it’s just a habit for everyone (developed during the other three seasons, all of which are “wet seasons”).
