Anyone who has dreams of BYU winning another NC are out to lunch
That's why I laugh when people complain about a NY6 being the "ceiling" if we join a G5.
Are they not understanding how the landscape has changed? CFP is out of the question.
"But what if we went undefeated!"
In the last 30 years only 31 teams have gone undefeated. If you assume that on average there were 120 D1 teams each year that's .0086% of teams that have done it.
Furthermore, 7 of those 31 teams were non-P5 (in today's parlance) and none of them sniffed the championship.
Staying independent so we have a shot at a NC is a stupid reason.
