Did I say Automatic Expulsions?
I think not.
I think we are seeing people seeing the "extremes" on either side of the arguement. Those calling for expulsion immediately are likely those who have had loved ones or been impacted by the SHEER IDIOCY of driving under the influence. Yes, the caps are intended, as that is what you have to be to do something like that.
You are also seeing another side where people appear to say "slap him on the wrist, and move on."

There is a middle ground, and that is likely what he will suffer. He can't get back what he just did, and how that may impact him now, and for the rest of his life, based upon his choices. This was a pretty stupid one, and I don't think that can be argued. Especially for someone who has signed on to follow certain rules for attendance. Again, I don't understand that form of idiocy. And yes, as much as I love Van Noy, he was an idiot for what he did to. Did he turn it around, though? Using his own agency? Yes. He suffered some consequences for a big mistake, moved on, and has become one of BYUs beloved players. A great example of redemption.

I hope the same can be done for Chaz. That really is up to him. I think leaving school for a year to get straight is a good idea. It's what Van Noy did. Either that, or he bails for another institution, which really means that BYU wasn't the right place for him.

We'll see what happens.
