usually in tandem with some other dads. I’ve been both head coach and assistant in all of those sports. I’ve had parents that thought I was to competitive and stern and other parents that loved that type of coaching.
I’ve had parents that thought I favored my kids and others that thought I didn’t favor them enough.
It really is a no win deal, at least if you’re thinking you can please every kid and every parent because you can’t. You just do your best.
I think most parents are pretty good though, most can see who the best athletes are and even if their kid is one of them or isn’t. I really think it’s a small minority or both coaches and parents that are any sort of problem. In my experience, and I’ve had a lot of it, I’ve come across very few bad parents or coaches.
