They were doing it at home and on the road. Sample sizes that small are almost
meaningless. Also, Baseball Prospectus studied it and found that it provided almost no Net benefit because when they got the signs wrong the hitters were AWFUL; statistically, the detriment to the hitters when they had the sign wrong was so much more significant than the benefit when it was right that the cheating was essentially a wash statistically.

Of course it was cheating and they should be punished, but it’s naive and unsupported by the evidence that this provided some massive benefit. There’s a reason why they stopped doing it in mid-2018.
