You may be correct, but do you want to be the Governor of the next NY & explain

why you didn't follow the advice of the "experts". There's certainly some CYA involved in making these decisions. And once the momentum starts to go that way, it gets easier for the next governor to just jump on the wagon. Not sure I'd do any differently.
