It was pretty nice, like a poor man's version of Richmond, Virginia, maybe. My brother lived in Houston, and I always wanted him to visit me in New England, rather than vice versa, especially during the inferno of summer. I've been to Dallas a few times, the best time being the Cotton Bowl, which was a great game, but otherwise the city isn't super impressive. I drove across West Texas once. It's better than driving through Nebraska, barely.
I have not lived there, nor do I have a desire to do so. If you love your home state, that's great. I have other preferences.
