You've most likely overestimated him.
He's a no star recruit, you were the only D1 school to offer him a scholarship. Either every other D1 recruiter and talent evaluator that didn't offer him were probably right, them's the odds.
At the very least you took a flyer, which you have to do sometimes and at the most maybe you got a Hifo or even a Covey, but he would have been on the field last year if that were the case.
