Peter Attia is a physician focused on increasing heathspan and lifespan with a very interesting podcast called the drive. He is a big advocate of fasting.
I did my first one a month ago and felt really good after about 40 hrs. I was not in Ketosis before I started the fast so I think it takes a bit to get into Ketosis. I tried a modified Tim Ferris protocol where I walked for 2 hours yesterday morning to try to let into Ketosis faster. I used some ketone salts yesterday but prob won’t use them today.
I supplement with some magnesium and have some vegetable bullion for sodium total is 60 calories a day. I drink a lot of mineral water, prefer topo Chico brand.
I think I will plan on doing a three day fast every couple months for health reasons. The potential benefits considering autophagy and brain health seem worth it. I am also a physician and get exposed to quite a bit of radiation with my job. I thing the autophagic effects of fasting could help with the possible dangers.
