website about fasting. They did a study where they had 2 groups of mice. One ate whatever they wanted and the other they fasted for 24 hrs prior to a lethal dose of radiation. I think it was 13 GY. All the mice who were eating died. All the fasted mice lived. They had radiation toxicity but survivied. I don't think we know the mechanism but I find it interesting.
I work every day with Fluoroscopy being an interventional radiologist. Granted the doses I get every day are small and I wear lead so not totally applicable. I hope that some of the autophagic benefits of fasting my help with my chronic radiation exposure. Again no great data but all signs point to fasting being a very powerful tool.
One of the major problems with fasting is knowledge of the right dose/time that is needed to get the benefits. Attia used to do a 7 day fast once a quarter but now does a 3 day fast monthly. We dont have a really good way to measure autophagy. Hopefully coming soon. If you want to know more about autophagy he interviewed a phd named Eileen White episode 114 which was really good.
