let him play what he wants to play. kids excel in sports that they'll practice
when they are alone in their free time.
if he'll go out and hit balls when he's alone, rather than shoot baskets, he'll be a better tennis player than basketball.
the problem with tennis is you usually need a partner. but get him a basket of balls and a practice machine, and let him do his thing.
