but I personally think that a lot of that came from the coaches who destroyed his confidence. There was also a lot of team disunity. That disunity was a failure on the part of the coaches to instill the right leadership in the players. His freshman year showed the kind of player that he could have been.
So we'll have to agree to disagree on the idea that "they" gave him every chance to succeed. I love Doman, but there's a reason he lost his job. I also think that Anae is a great coach and I'm grateful for the many great things he brought to BYU, but I also think that he often fell short in how he treated and coached some players - and how often "go fast, go hard" became "play not-to-lose."
I'm NOT a Heaps apologist, but whatever happens, I want ANYONE who played for BYU to have positive feelings toward the school. Is that going to happen? No, but that is my wish, which is why I really dislike it when individuals on CB bag on former players. In my mind, once a Cougar, always a Cougar - unless it's Kyle Whittingham. See, I'm not perfect either (smile).
