AP and Coaches polls don't determine where the big $$$ goes...
The CFP rankings do... THEY DON'T CARE! They will do everything they can to keep BYU out of the top 12. BYU will move up one spot with the NW loss. In the eyes of the committee, Iowa State got better with their win over Texas, Indiana didn't change with their convincing win over Maryland, Georgia TROUNCED South Carolina, and neither Miami or Oklahoma played... 13 is the likely ceiling for this week. There's a scenario where Iowa State and Oklahoma swap spots, and they drop Oklahoma behind BYU, but there's no reasonable explanation for that other than "Oklahoma didn't play"... Well, neither did BYU. The only way BYU rises in these rankings is by attrition. Sadly, the only way BYU gets inside the top 12 is if the new 8 through 12 loses in the next 2 weeks. The other issues BYU faces is teams between 15 and 20, i.e. Wisconsin, USC, and Washington continuing to win and pushing their way into the top 10.

Here's what's happening in the next few weeks with the teams just ahead of BYU:
- Georgia isn't going to lose to Vanderbilt this weekend... After that, their season is done. They'll maintain ahead of BYU.
- Miami COULD lose to UNC on the 12th... BYU finally plays that week, so there's an opportunity to move up there. That said, if they win out, they'll maintain ahead of BYU.
- Oklahoma COULD lose to West Virginia on the 12th, and then has another opportunity for a loss in the Big 12 championship, but the other team likely in the BIG 12 championship is Iowa State, so one of those two teams will likely stay ahead of BYU.
- Indiana could lose this weekend to #18 Wisconsin, which would open up another spot... But here lies the catch 22 in that scenario... Does a 1 loss Wisconsin then jump BYU? Maybe...
- Iowa State COULD lose this week to West Virginia, but if they don't, then BYU needs them lose in the BIG 12 championship game... The issue with that is that would likely be Oklahoma. Basically BYU needs West Virginia to beat ISU and Oklahoma.

It's possible for BYU to get as high as 11, but they'll need some help from UNC against Miami, and from West Virginia against ISU and Oklahoma...
