I agree it did a bad job setting up 9. That was the worst part of the trilogy. It wasn't a trilogy at all. That's all on
Disney.
The thing I love about the snoke twist is that everyone assumed that TLJ was going to be a retread of ESB and he is just going to grow in power and it was a total subversion of expectations to have him die like that.
The trilogy overall was disjointed and a mess. I have said multiple times they need to give some director $1B and let them make $4B back by creating an awesome star wars triology that doesn't have the studio's fingerprints all over it.
