She isn't obligated but when she tells them it obviously has an impact

hiring someone new and then training them and then who will then have the opportunity to take three to nine months off for maternity leave. There is also a large chance wife wants to stay home with the child if it is the first.

I have had three women go on maternity leave on teams under me and each time it had significant impacts on the team and the organization.
