Obviously, you're also a BYU fan (or wouldn't be here) so that colors your judgment a bit. I get the feeling that most Eagles fans (and especially the management) would at least like to give Hurts a legitimate shot at the job. Personally I agree that he's not a franchise QB, but I also know how fans can talk themselves into things when they're desperate.
Personally, I think of Hurts as more of a Taysom Hill type - great change of pace and backup, wildcard who can do a lot of different things, but not who you want regularly starting for you. Maybe you run with him if you're in a pinch (like they did), but not a real long-term option.
