Being used in consumerism. Billionaires don’t spend most of their wealth (which obviously is their choice) but when you start getting billions and tens of billions of dollars removed from the economy the economy starts to slow down...or did before we decided that we could just stimulate everything.

The other issue is the role of the middle class, which continues to shrink. Without a middle class the economy struggles along make rich people richer, poor people poorer, and the economy weaker. Allows the government to justify stepping in and “distributing”
