I did the same thing in Oklahoma
Moved there in 99. I rooted for Oklahoma football, attended some games, and was going to enroll at Oklahoma to finish my degree. The more I got to know a lot of OU fans I realize they mostly acted like Utah and UW fans (The two fanbases I hated the most at the time).
I enrolled at Oklahoma State instead and haven't looked back. Still to this day I think the worst three fanbases are Texas Tech, OU, and Utah.
