SinkingQuffa Intervention Needed
When I arrived at SLC for the first time in 1990 from New England
I'd never seen so many smokers on the street in my life. As someone who'd been raised LDS — I will say I was shocked by this first impression of Utah's big city.

And this is coming from someone who between my aunts (not ants), Nana, neighbors — & my dad before age 5 — was in a cloud of smoke most of my years growing up.

Things are obviously better now in SLC (as for everywhere) — but there was a concerted effort in SLC back in the day — to openly advertise that you were either not Mormon — or not a very good one. Smoking was probably the most obvious way to get the point across.
