The writer of the article you cite is Doug Corrigan, let me provide some background on him (my hunch is you already know
“ Biochemist and Biophysicist, Doug Corrigan, worked for years in big pharmaceutical companies. After his wife introduced him to essential oils get got curious and started researching and studying the chemistry of oils in depth. Now he teaches thousands of people about the amazing way that essential oils work on a biochemical level.”

At one point Doug Corrigan was the head of Sales and Marketing at Young Living Essential Oils. Not exactly a resounding endorsement in the scientific community.

Here is a further discussion of Dr. Corrigan’s credentials:

“ A search of PubMed shows that Doug Corrigan has published zero articles – given what he claims about himself, I’m curious as to why there are zero peer-reviewed articles that are published with him as an author. He doesn’t even have a third or fourth author article.

... Finally, Doug Corrigan is a fan of the genocidal herd immunity, the one that avoids vaccines, but lets millions of people to die. I get the impression that he is anti-vaccine, at least anti-coronavirus vaccine. And he pushes that “boost your immune system” quackery that I’ve thoroughly debunked in the past”

The research being done at MIT and Harvard may be very interesting, bit has yet to be peer-reviewed. If we are using Dr Corrigan as an unofficial peer-reviewer I would suggest that given Dr Corrigan’s bona fides (or lack thereof), I am doubtful about his ability to accurately interpret what the research is really saying let alone critically assess it in any meaningful way.
