with his friend and the friend's father. This father is ok taking the boys and chaperoning them. Artists like Trippie Redd, Suicideboys, Ski Mask, etc, will be there (basically rap music filled with lots of language, misogynistic messaging, sex-charged lyrics, etc). We don't feel good about our son going to a concert like this, but he is claiming this is so important to him, that we don't understand how much he connects to these artists, etc etc. Anyone have any experience with this kind of thing? We do want him to have more independence, to make more of his own decisions, and we do understand that we won't always like the things he likes, but everything in me hates this kind of music and the messages it presents. Do we stick to our guns and not let him go? This probably seems like a no brainer to some of you, but we struggle so much with this kid. All he wants is to break away from us and have more independence. It's a daily fight just to have peace in our home with him.
