UCLA lost two buzzer-beaters to Stanford and USC. If not for those gut-wrenching finishes, they would have finished the Pac-12 season at 15-4, winning the league outright. They were literally two buzzer-beaters away from winning the Pac-12 outright. They had no business being in the play-in game.
It's amazing to me that USC can go 15-5 in the Pac-12 and get a 6 seed. Meanwhile, Ohio State goes 12-8 in the Big Ten and is awarded with a 2 seed. USC is a whole 3 games above OSU, and they're 4 seeds below them? I get the small sample size of OOC games contributed to these discrepancies, but those seedings were not congruous with the results in league play.
