I don't blame the WCC, they did what they had to do to keep Gonzaga when the MWC came knocking, but it now means that Gonzaga runs that conference and pretty much everything is designed for their benefit.
The weird conference tournament is designed to give Gonzaga almost no shot at losing a game, and absolutely no shot at losing to a bad team. Plus to keep their schedule strength high by not even playing most of the conference.
By the same token, the WCC is one of the only (if not the only) conference that doesn't equally distribute NCAA units for wins in the tournament; they are weighted heavily towards the team that gets them - which is generally Gonzaga.
Again, can't blame Gonzaga for any of this. They want every benefit they can get. And you can't blame the WCC either, since they knew what they had to do to keep Gonzaga.
But it is a weird feeling for BYU to be in a conference where some other team is so clearly the big fish and calling the shots, and for us to have to deal with whatever negative impact that has on our chances.
