I wonder how much of this has to do with all the streaming services.
it seems there is a weekly "cord cutting thread" on this board looking to get rid of their cable packages. And this is a BYU sports fan site. I know for me personally, the only reason to have cable is to watch sports. I would never watch a tv show or movie on there as I can very easily watch them elsewhere without having to deal with advertisements. So because of that, there would be months apart where I would never even turn on the TV. Hard to justify spending 80$ a month for something you never use for months at a time.

Now my parents and my wife's parents still are in the generation where they would never dream of getting rid of their cable services. But I don't think my generation or future generations feel this way and so cable services are likely to change very soon is my guess and turn into some kind of microservices as well. We've seen this change a little bit in ESPN+ but it's still relatively early. But yeah I expect these numbers to keep going down as things change.
