Why do people think this way? Because it's not close to a large LDS community

it would be a bad experience? My favorite LDS experience was during law school when the ward and stake boundaries were huge, my bishop was a garbage man, his 1st counselor was a bus driver, Fast Sundays were a crap shoot of who could be craziest, and the institute class had 5 other kids in it.

Maybe I'm making a horrible assumption of why you think it would be a bad LDS experience.
