It was more his putting a game on the line maxing out his arm
in tight coverage.
Max was not the best at managing games against foes who had us outmatched in the speed department. He'd get a bit too greedy & bigheaded. His arm was strong enough, but he pushed his limits at times when we needed him to stay cool & keep on pace instead.
There's no worse way to lose than with a QB who throws you outa a big game. Trying to do too much.
