Conversation is good - we all can learn from each other.
I tend to agree with fldnstrm - what you saw was a defensive reaction of people who felt like there was some judging going on - whether that was your intent or not, the phrasing came across that way.

In nature death is never pretty. It could easily be argued these bears had a more humane death than their cohorts
