I assume this is what you are talking about (T fitting with barb)..
Does the T fitting look like this? T-fitting with a barbed connector.. that is connected to funny pipe (swing pipe).. and that connects to the sprinkler head.
This is the way most sprinklers are setup.
If so.. you can buy 'plugs' for the funny pipe/sprinkler head end. The more permanent (safer) solution is to cut the PVC T section out and replace it.

A barbed connector in pvc? That seems odd. Those are generally reserved for drip systems utilizing drip line.
