I think it’s easier to cover for Dame’s shortcomings than it is Rudy’s. The Jazz haven’t shown they can beat the 5-out switching scheme.

I think it’s doable, but you really have to use your money perfectly. The league is changing and there is just no chance you’ll get a playoff run without having to face a team that can go small and switch everything.

Flexibility is key and the Jazz as currently constructed don’t have it. And paying Rudy the max makes it really hard to achieve.

The thing is, utah is kinda locked into it now. It’ll be really interesting to see how they adjust going forward. I think all they can really do is adjust along the margins. Maybe sacrifice a little offense for some perimeter defense. Probably need to find someone who can play the 5 in a small ball lineup.

Kinda just feels like this team is destined to be a 2nd round exit for the foreseeable future. But I’m no expert, and I didn’t see this current team being this good, so maybe they have another surprise in them.
