But you have to get some value from a guy on a smear super max deal.
What value did Gobert bring to the game last night? The only thing I can point to is he did ok on the O glass but on the D glass he gave up plenty. Which is saying something because the clippers rarely missed.
He was not a factor offensively aside from a few putbacks. In fact I thought he had some crucial turnovers offensively.
He didn't do anything positive defensively whether you want to blame his teammates or not - stars find a way to make an impact on the game in at least 1 meaningful way. He didn't do anything on either end to help the jazz. He has zero roll gravity vs a team that switches everything.
We both agree the jazz FO screwed up by not targeting wings but if they did target those wings then they likely would have had to bench Gobert for multiple stretches in favor of those other players.
Which brings us back to the heart of the issue - Gobert is getting a near supermax payday for a guy that didn't bring any value to his team in an elimination game and there is an easy blueprint going forward to neutralize him.
Even David Locke admits Gobert is completely neutralized in the series. That contract is going to be a ball and chain for the team unfortunately.
