It's a job seekers market right now - especially in tech. Why would he WANT to
continue to work for a company who pulls a stunt like that.
Checking with a lifeline (dad or not) to see if it is legal is fine. But once I learned it is legal and the company's prerogative, I'd still tell them to pound sand and go look for a better company to work for.
