We do have Stanford grads working here who’ve been here for years and years but it’s a unique workplace where a lot of traditional medical hierarchies don’t exist. It’s a patient centered model where process and work flow decision making isn’t done doctor centered. As a matter of fact, it’s so much the opposite that physicians are addressed by names not by title (in most cases, however some individuals find it weird to not call a doctor by their professional title).
For some sub-specialties and therapies there aren’t many that are homegrown and trying to attract them to Alaska isn’t always easy to do and we might have very limited numbers of applicants to choose from. It can be a challenge but we stick to our guns and it serves us well.
