I think what we're seeing is the fruit of the "everyone gets a medal" mentality
that dominates youth sports here in the U.S. The mental fortitude isn't there even when the physical talent is.
Yes, it's likely other nations are doping (China...) but I think there is more too it. The culture around team USA in T&F and many other sports is not a culture of winning right now.

A lot of it is also other countries are better able to send their youngest, best, & brightest to America for college and
