Unrelated income is fine as long as it is not a "substantial" portion of your activities and you have to pay taxes on its net income. The question is raised as they need to qualify for a certain type of channel in order for cable companies to be incentivized to include it in their packages without charging excessive amounts to do so. I do not know what those requirements are and which streaming services follow those rules anymore. They need content too.
