I can kind of give a company a pass if you apply for a job online and never hear back from them without even doing an interview. I have third party (looking at you Robert Half people) that reach out to me almost every other month or so about a job and then don't hear back from them. I have a guy that reaches out to me through LinkedIn with an amazing opportunity that I am perfect for every 6 months and then after telling him I am interested I don't hear from him again until the next "perfect opportunity."
The ones that kill me are the internal company recruiters that I am sure most of you would know or even work there. They will reach out proactively to me and almost plead for me to interview for a position. I will do the HR interview, usually another person, and then the CFO once or twice. I will never hear from them again. I will email them our try and contact them for clarification and they can't even give a quick "it has been filled." I have had several CFOs blatantly lie to my face. It is so bad it is difficult not to laugh in their face. I wouldn't be shocked it 1 or 2 of them are on here.
The whole process is so lame. Recruiters cry about ghosting but they are worse than the candidates and have set that level of respect. I think of most of the as barely better than the stereotypical used car salesman. There are exceptions to that but not many.
I want a new job so badly but the whole ordeal has been super frustrating.
