Yeah, people lock on to their emotional biases.

They put more weight on the defense giving up a field goal than the fumble that put the opponent near field goal range simply because they had previously determined the defense to be weaker than the offense.

Giving up 26 points after the offense turns it over 6 times is actually pretty good.
