Here’s the difference: when we didn’t make the defense start defending inside our own 25, they gave up 0 TDs and 12
points total.
If you can’t see the difference when they score more than half their points off fields that are shorter than 25 yards, I don’t know what to tell you.
Also, certainly can’t tell you anything if you think allowing a conversion on third down rather than forcing a punt is the “same as a fumble.”
One allows a punt and flipping the field. The other gives up the ball in scoring position. It’s not close. Saying it’s equivalent is crazy.

Our offense fumbled two plays IN A ROW around our own 25. Not the defense’s fault they didn’t have the ball “enough”
