There’s no doubt the D was not the primary culprit for today’s loss. BUT, that
doesn’t mean it doesn’t have major issues. It’s been clear throughout this season, and today’s game reiterated it, that an elite team needs an aggressive defense that can pressure the QB, create TOs, and cause consistent 3-and-outs.
Allowing teams to dominate TOP is a recipe for 2-3 losses per year that you should win, regardless of how good your team ultimately is otherwise.
Offense blew it today, but BYU needs to have the ability to get its D off the field in close games or when trying to come from behind. They don’t have that.
