And all these guys who left are non-LDS. So is it because our non-LDS coaches are better than the LDS coaches
Or are there reasons why our LDS coaches might eschew new job opportunities because of their family/church ties to BYU?

It depends. At BYU soon it won't be since steps up will be fewer. Guys rarely leave for lateral positions.
