by forcing out coaches they never should have. Nebraska is a good case study. They've paid $30M is severance to coaches without success. (see article below)
I think many here undervalue the fact that we are the 70th best recruiting team (for obvious Indy reasons) yet we are consistently ranked better. Our coaches are consistently handcuffed and then expected to be top 25 (and then even when they are top 25, some want to fire them).
I'd suggest that most here don't have even 50% of the data you'd want in order to know if Tuiaki should leave.
For example:
1. We don't know who might replace him. If Tuiaki is the 70th best DC in college football, but none of the top 70 want BYU, then Tuiaki is our best option.
2. We don't know how he's going to recruit now that he has the B12 label. CB has no idea about Tuiaki's recruiting chops. He just got Ice. That's a good start.
3. We don't know how much of BYU D' issues are talent vs scheme. We can guess, but we don't really know. We don't have the tape and the tape we do have we don't study.
Additionally,
I think many on CB misunderstand how often we play man.
I think CB misunderstands how often other successful defenses are dropping 8.
In summary... replacing coaches is really complicated. We should let BYU top decision makers make the call. They have much more data than we have. We shouldn't try to push their hand. Fan sentiment can get coaches fired. I'd rather have people with the most data making these kind of decisions.
