It’s not about the secondary playing ‘man’ it’s about what the DLs and LBs are
Doing and the lack of creativity, complexity, and vanilla looks the D gives. There is no ingenuity, people doing the same thing on every play, absurdly simple and easy to read. ‘Blitzes’ are so basic they are picked up embarrassingly easy.
There is not enough DL Stunting or using other techniques for leverage, there are few run blitzes, no zone blitzes.
It’s not about ‘dropping 8’. We’ve got players who are smart and heady, maybe less athletically talented according to recruiting numbers but we should be taking advantage of that…. Problem is we don’t have a DC who has the defensive football mind to do that.
